What the hell is up with this

The French cabinet yesterday gave its backing to a bill authorising penalties of up to a year in jail for anyone found guilty of making an anti-gay or sexist remark.

The bill will allow French courts to hand down a fine of €45,000 (£30,000) and up to 12 months in prison for "defamation or incitement to discrimination, hatred or violence on the grounds of a person's sex or sexual orientation".

Proffering an anti-gay insult in public - including any remark "of a more general nature tending to denigrate homosexuals as a whole" - could fetch a fine of €22,500 and six months' jail.

That is fucked up. God damn, first they tried to ban head scarves for muslim women, now this. I agree that the war with iraq was wrong, but this is too much.

Taking pictures of lava all day has got to be the best job in the world.

I wonder if they have boats that hang around offshore carrying tourists with binoculars so they can look at the lava.

Farenheit 9/11

I was a little bummed I wouldn't be able to see Farenheit 9/11 until I go back to the states this summer. But then I realized, I'm in china! There will be a pirate version out within a week of release. I'm looking forward to paying .75$ for mine.
