fischer random chess: http://www.chessvariants.com/fischer2.html is interesting

it's normal chess except that the back row is randomized. both sides play with the same setup.

restrictions on the randomization: the king must be between the rooks. that's it.

there are 960 possible starting positions, one of which is standard chess.

I like this game a lot.

The one problem with it is the stupid castling rules. Apparently, they've set it up so that after you castle, your king and rook will be in the same places they'd be after castling in a normal game.

That's insane. your king could be on the 2nd square from the left, and the rook on the third - and after you castled you'd end up on the other side of the board.

Web pages explaining fischer random explain it in 2 sentences, and then have 5 paragraphs describing castling. that is DUMB.

either make a one line easy to understand version of castling, or get rid of it. It's ruining the wonderfulness of this new game.

people trick themselves into thinking their dogs understand english.

try listening to chinese for a while. how much do you understand?

now, why would you think a dog understands more chinese than you do?

dogs understand as much english as you do would chinese after a week or so - maybe go, come, food, a couple other words.
I'm going to see smog aug 12. That is going to be awesome. Smog is good.

Went to the siren festival at coney island yesterday. It was really hot and the bands sucked. Especially dungen, who I liked. Yep, dungen sucked. his voice sounded terrible.
