July 24 2026 updates

Okay, I eventually woke up. 1110am.

The plan

I have been without a really working website for more than ten now so there's a lot to update!

Overall, I'm jsut writing whatever pages I want, and adding features, widgets etc as I go where they'll be needed. Using ant Fable and oai gpt5.6 Sol which are so good that I barely have to ever look at the code. It's acutally scary. The first year of epic AI coding and project completion powers involved me at least checking the base abstractions. I guess you could say that this site and others still really are based on my core.

And we do know it's really still not very good at all at things like Mortal Coil which is now a benchmark and has been renamed. Okay, lots of bugs around internal linking, fixing them.

Yes I've been away too long! So many projects to discuss.

Okay I should stop. Get the day going. I do think it'd be intersting to track mental metrics using things like minesweeper.

Question about minesweeper: which is more stable, my 3BV/s over time within a day, or my overall completion times? Excluding quickly ending games, but including boards which I e.g. half finished before having to guess, we'd have a lot more measurements. Why wouldn't it be relatively flat and smooth, compared to the really spotty and sporadic expected rate of generating finished boards? (even with perfect play and perfect guessing)

Oh that reminds me, I really need to write up all the things I've been thinking about re: sts2 and the design of this new genre: the single-player but still using randomization in a useful way, game. e.g. single-player poker. It seems fairly new as a genre. ofc there are things like solitaire, but sts2 gives us such a better playing field to explore.

Other things to write up: more ideas about duplicate sts2 tournaments, repeated play, etc.

Oh dear. A very good board, and I'm clicking fast, concentrating on not jumping too much. 84s is not a bad one. I think on my old account I once I think broke into the 60s? It's very strange how over the years despite age I still take 2-3 year breaks from this game and come back, and the neurons have somehow rewired, and the things which were hard before are easy now.
