I had never seen anything like this before. They were even more intense with my sunglasses on but even with base eyes, the variation in density between the bands was insane. It also applied to different parts of the sky really differently and had lots of different forms. Within an hour or so it had gotten more overcast as the sun set, though, and had mostly disappeared.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel had a similar photo to mine, taken at almost the same time, too.
